3 TRAINING PROGRAMS TO CHOOSE FROM

·         You Can Do 26.2 Full Marathon Training Program – Designed for runners who are ready to take on the marathon and have completed a half-marathon within the last year.  Runners must be able to run 6 miles without stopping at the beginning of the program.

 

·         Let’s Run 13.1 Half Marathon Training Program – Designed for runners wanting to complete their first or fastest half marathon. Runners must be able to run 3 miles without stopping at the beginning of the program.

 

·         Walk/Run 13.1 Half Marathon Training Program – Designed for new runners or anyone who wants to walk a portion of the race.  This programs uses a proven method of alternating walking and running to get you across the finish line.

Fall Full / Half Marathon Training Program

  • Focused on building endurance for a 13.1 or 26.2 mile race.
  • Starts on August 20th at LBJ Park (off of Nacogdoches Road).
  • 15 weeks long.
  • This program will sell-out as it has for the past 3 years so register early if you want to guarantee your spot.
  • We will train on the actual race course prior to the race.
  • Training on strength, endurance, speed, form, and strategy for running 13.1 or 26.2 miles.
  • Focused on preparing runners for the Rock-n-Roll San Antonio race in December.
  • Weekly team runs on Saturday or Sunday mornings.
  • Optional group runs throughout the week.
  • Tips and techniques on improving your running.
  • Different pace groups to support all levels of runners, including run/walkers.
  • Flexible weekly workout schedule.
  • Team training shirt.

  • All programs are $40 for SARR members and $55 for non-members (which includes cost of membership)
  • Registration closes when we reach capacity or on August 15th, whichever comes first.  Registration is currently closed as capacity has been reached.  Last 3 years we have reached capacity prior to start of program.  Register NOW!
  • There will be no late registrations. No exceptions.
  • Anyone registering before July 4th will also get a free Base Builder training plan to help get you ready for the start of the program.  This will help you build up some miles so you can be ready for our first long run.  For the half marathon programs registrants should be able to run 3 miles without stopping.  For the Full marathon program registrants should be able to run 6 miles without stopping.

Why Train with SARR?

  • We are experienced. Biggest training program in the city led by RRCA-certified coaches. Over 700 runners trained in just the last 3 years.
  • We run all over town. We train at different locations around town so you can experience many great running spots the city has to offer.
  • We run together. Runners are placed in pace groups with mentors and pace leaders. Run with others of your same ability and speed.
  • We help runners become racers. We have different training levels to fit your goals.
  • We are a non-profit organization. Our mission is to promote running in the local community. We keep our registration fees low so more people can participate.
