Welcome to the San Antonio RoadRunners website. The SARR was organized May 7, 1973 as a volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to the promotion of running for physical fitness, fellowship and fun. We are the local chapter of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), a national organization of running clubs dedicated to running and runner’s rights.
SARR organizes, promotes and supports 23 events throughout the year, and was a partner with the city of San Antonio and the YMCA in the San Antonio Marathon for over 25 years.
All club events are listed on our website, as well as other, local non-SARR events, and offer distances for all ages and abilities.
SARR also publishes a monthly newsletter that includes race calendars, entry forms, results, and articles of interest relating to training, health and fitness.
Membership in the San Antonio RoadRunners includes membership in the Road Runners Club of America, reduced entry fees to SARR events, discounts at San Antonio area specialty running stores, and beginning in 2011, a half-marathon training program.
As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, membership dues help us continue to offer the local running community well organized, safe and enjoyable events. Proceeds from all SARR events also help us award scholarships to area high school athletes, and donate to worthy causes within our community, such as the San Antonio Zoo and the Crown Jewels of Texas, (and a favored running venue) the San Antonio Missions.
We welcome you to our website, and hope you find it helpful and informative in your efforts towards a healthy lifestyle.
